Sinopsis

The Call of Feminism and Gender: Disciplines, Academia, Activism and Waves

This book explores the voices that problematize the positive and possibly the negative of feminism through a theoretical-conceptual tour of its theory, characterizing the complex roots of it along with those of gender. Some of its disciplinary principles are taken as a starting point, through theoretical enclaves such as history, philosophy and anthropology, and its complicated relationship with the activist dimension. The book does not intend to displace the well-known narratives of feminist waves, but to show them in terms of a conceptual network that helps to give support and clarity to the discourses.

Through each chapter, an explanatory conceptual network of feminism and gender is proposed, trying to reach and give rise to the new generations and the not so new ones. That leads to the possibility of glimpsing that feminism is a useful instrument to approach the process of self-awareness so desired and sought by feminists of the second wave, and to give gender its rightful place, beyond tokenism, within public policies, in our contexts.
